This morning, OCHS students and staff honored our veterans and active duty service members during the Star Spangled Banner. From all students and staff at OCHS, happy Veterans Day!

OCHS teachers engaged in PLC work today, analyzing classroom assessment data and sharing instructional strategies. Later in the day, Ms. Finn and Mrs. Thomas led 7th grade students, who were engaged in a MyPerspectives lesson--discussing themes on the novel, The Outsiders!


Thank you to Owsley County School District employee Shawn Allen (Armed Forces Veteran) for raising new flags at each of our schools in recognition of Veterans Day.

6th grade students in Mr. Lewis' classroom were actively engaged in identifying the differences between physical and chemical changes through lab, rotation experiments.





It was a Green Party! Teachers at OCES were celebrated and recognized for growth on the Kentucky Summative Assessment. All teachers in each subject were recognized because of growth in every area! Thank you to our teachers for their hard work!!

KDE Program Consultant, Rachel Njenga, met with Classified Staff in PLC at OCES to discuss Positive Behavior Interventions. She then met with all the teachers. Looking forward to implementing some new school wide strategies.

Today, OCMS/HS arts and band students were visited by TUNES Ambassadors Arthur Hancock and Chris Shouse (OCHS Class of 96), who represented the philanthropist group, Can'd Aid. They performed for our students and announced their group's donation to OCHS of musical instruments/equipment to help expand music opportunities for students in our school.
