Friday OCES 4th Grade Science students wrapped up Dr. Seuss week creating & making predictions with the Non-Newtonian fluid "Oobleck" from Dr. Seuss "Bartholomew & The Oobleck."

Thank you to the Owsley County Sportsman Club for their $1,000 dollar donation to the OCHS Senior Class.

Today at OCHS, several reading and math students completed MAP station activities, specifically designed to improve students' focus instructional areas such as literature, vocabulary, algebraic thinking and statistics. The goal is to use student MAP data to better drive personalized instruction, and lead students to higher confidence and higher performance.





Owsley County varsity cheerleaders participated in Read Across America today. They got the opportunity to read to students in kindergarten through 5th grade. "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child. -Dr. Seuss

Join OCHS in celebrating and promoting our local Beta Club chapter during National Beta Week next week (March 9-13). Current Beta Club Members will have activities during lunch periods focusing on the Four Pillars of Beta Club: Achievement, Character, Leadership, & Service.

Our OCHS BETA Club assisted local businesses across the community today during the statewide tornado drill. It was a great opportunity for students to support preparedness efforts while learning the importance of safety and community teamwork. We appreciate our local businesses for allowing our students to be part of this important statewide safety event.





Our District Joint Leadership Team met this afternoon to review progress toward our school and district goals. The team also evaluated our current Gifted and Talented services and discussed recommendations to strengthen opportunities and supports for students.


Owsley County High School would like to remind families that 11th-grade students will be taking the SAT on March 11th as part of Kentucky’s statewide college readiness assessment.

Kindergarten students celebrated Read Across America today with fun activities from the Owsley County Public Library.
Ms. Alizabeth’s special class also enjoyed their own Read Across America fun and activities as they joined in celebrating the joy of reading.
