Happy Thanksgiving

Owsley County School District Custodians and maintenance crews working hard to ensure our buildings are clean and sanitized for student arrival on Monday.





OCHS middle and high school students and staff enjoyed Yellow and Green Celebrations this afternoon for recent improvements in KDE Accountability. Students were treated to snacks as well as a glow dance party, gym activities and karaoke! It was a great day to be an Owl! Great job OCHS students and staff and thank you for your hard work!










The OCHS Beta Club enjoyed their trip to a cabin in TN and Dollywood these last two days. They dodged some crowds and a little rain, but overall had a wonderful time together making lasting memories!






4th Grade wrapped up their Medieval Ages Unit with a jousting celebration! Ms. Henrion watched over them as they sparred.






This afternoon our district instructional staff came together for a Thanksgiving potluck and data night. Our principals shared their accountability and assessment data, and our instructional teams dug in together to analyze, reflect, and map out next steps. It was a productive night focused on moving our students and our schools forward.







All of our Owls basketball programs, from third grade through varsity, scrimmaged today at the Jackson City Panorama. It was a great preview of what’s ahead and an exciting start for our varsity team as they get ready to tip off their season. Our student athletes are making Owsley proud every time they step on the court.










Today, our 6th graders performed a Ukulele Concert in the Kids on Stage room at OCHS. Thank you to Mr. Parker for organizing the event, and to all family and community members for your attendance and support of our students and our visual & performing arts program!


Today, Owsley County Food Service served a delicious Thanksgiving meal for our students and staff. The Food Service team worked hard to make the day special, and we’re grateful for everything they do to take care of our schools.




Courier Journal Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Preseason Top Teams and Players! Delaney Smith and Kamilla Marcum begin the year at #7 and #9. Look for both to rise and more Lady Owls to join the mix!


Mrs. Amy Dooley, OCMHS PRI School Coordinator, hosted a festive family paint night this evening. A special thank you to Ms. Kenna Spears for leading the painting session and helping families create something fun together.





The Joint Leadership team met tonight to look closely at our current assessment data. They identified strengths, dug into root causes, and outlined action steps that will help move our students and schools forward.


It’s been a strong week for our Owls. Our 3/4 and 5/6 teams hit the road to play the Sebastian Bobcats tonight and came home with two solid wins. Let's go, Owls!




Mr. Parker and the OCHS Pep Band have been working on some Christmas tunes and also preparing for the upcoming basketball season!

Mrs. Begley's 4th Grade Science students finished their Energy unit this week. They wrapped up with our annual Catapult Build to display stored elastic energy & celebrating with the Catapult challenge.
