Our Summer Learning Adventure is off to a great start! We are proud of every student who is spending part of their summer growing as a reader and mathematician. This leaderboard highlights students who are currently leading the way, but we celebrate all of our learners who are putting in the time and effort to keep learning going all summer long. At tonight’s Board of Education meeting, we formally recognized Haley Sandlin and Cathy Mayes as our Above and Beyond Award recipients for the 2025-26 school year. Both consistently go the extra mile for our students, staff, and schools. We appreciate their dedication and the positive impact they make each day. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Be sure to check out the books available at our SUN meals pickup! There is nothing quite like seeing students excited about reading. Every book in the hands of a child helps build a stronger foundation for learning and future success.

Make sure to bring water, practice is outside. We have very specific rules about humidity that we must follow. Don't come without a physical. Athletes will be required to meet time minimums to compete in away meets, ​practice is important. - Coach Mc

FSCS School Coordinators Amy Dooley and Felecia Pittman attended the Partners for Rural Impact (PRI) PRIoritize Boot Camp, where they spent two days learning, collaborating, and gaining new ideas to better support our students, families, and school community.

A great start to our Summer Reading & Math Adventure! We’re excited to see students staying engaged and challenging themselves all summer long.

After a strong year of literacy growth, district administrators are attending the Kentucky Reads to Succeed Summer Conference to learn, collaborate, and bring back strategies that will help us sustain momentum and continue improving outcomes for all students.

Congratulations to recent OCHS graduate, Makelle Heard, recipient of the 2026 William Eversole Scholarship! Makelle will be attending Morehead State University in the Fall.

Our K-12 ELA teachers are at KVEC today collaborating around the updated reading and writing standards as they begin planning for the upcoming school year.

Great day for these Lady Owls; Madi Cornett, Nala Pittman, and Sophia Havicus were invited to the E & A Hoop Dreams showcase of the 50 best Middle Schoolers in the area. It was a short trip over the state line to WV to show out. Nala placed 3rd in the Queen of Court competition. Madi placed 2nd in the 3 point competition. E & A Hoop Dreams
