Owsley County Athletics - Weekly Schedule

The Owsley County Athletics golf programs were well represented yesterday across the Bluegrass in multiple state and regional competitions.
The Owsley County Lady Owls, golf team competed in the All “A” State Golf Championship, which was held at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky. The Lady Owls golf team finished the tournament in 9th out of 14 total teams and was just a few shots behind Louisville Collegiate. The Lady Owls faced tough conditions yesterday morning during their play there was wind, cold, rain, and many other weather elements to battle during the round. The Lady Owls were represented by sophomore, Delaney Smith, Harley Dooley, Kiley, Taylor, Rory Mason, and Freshman Lauren Gay. This was a great experience for the Lady Owls. They have a few weeks remaining in their season of local matches before they head into the golf postseason.
The Owls golf team was represented at the state competition as well. Owls sophomore, Jordan McCoy, competed in the All “A” State Golf Championship, which was held at Gibson Bay in Richmond, Kentucky. McCoy had an impressive practice round heading into the tournament with four birdies and a near hole-in-one. McCoy faced very tough weather conditions yesterday strong winds and cold rain made course conditions quite difficult. He finished strong and gained valuable experience at this prestigious state-level tournament. McCoy now aims to take this invaluable experience and focus on the upcoming golf postseason tournament in a few weeks.
The Owls Middle School Golf Team also competed in their regional tournament yesterday at Winchester Country Club. Owls' 8th-grader, Eelan Bobrowski-Hall, finished in first place and was co-medalist for the tournament. Owls' 7th-grader, Lance Osborne finished in 9th place out of 77 total golfers and was just 1 shot shy of advancing to the Middle School State Golf Tournament. Eelan will advance to the Middle School State Tournament which will be held September 21st at Henry County Country Club.
We are very proud of our golfers' accomplishments, accolades, and efforts yesterday at their tournaments. We wish them the best of luck as they finish their seasons and begin focusing on their postseason competition.

Great curriculum-based teaching and learning today at OCHS! Also, Mrs. Hisel led a paraphrasing group activity from the Declaration of Independence as part of the Savvas MyPerspectives reading curriculum.
