Today, many OCHS students enjoyed the sunshine after eating lunch alfresco. Special thanks to Owsley Co. Schools Food Service for an excellent meal today!
Mrs. Lewis's 6th grade social studies students were studying the Ancient Greek City-States of Athens and Sparta today, with students leading class discussion and questioning.
No baseball practice today.
Today finished the last home game for the Owls and Lady Owls. Owsley County Athletics would like to give a special thanks to our concession staff, custodians, clock keepers, PA announcers, and gate staff. Our home games would not be possible without our great support staff!
OCHS GEAR UP students had a great trip to EKU, yesterday, where they toured campus and learned about the different programs and scholarships available to them. We even met up with some familiar faces!

The Valentine's Day Dance at OCMHS has been rescheduled for next Thursday, February 22nd.
Today at OCMHS, 7th grade students in Mr. Lewis's science class got to dissect cow eyeballs with help from Extension Agent Carissa Miske and the 4-H Extension Office.
Thanks to the students and staff members who organized the "OCHS Coffee Cart" and served treats to our staff last Friday.
OCHS Senior Nights for the Owls, Lady Owls, and Cheerleaders. The Owls picked up a win against Lynn Camp Thursday and the girls followed up Friday with a win over Wolfe County. Thank you to our senior student-athletes for your years of hard work and dedication to our programs!

Congratulations to Ms. Finn's 1st period 6th grade class, who won the first OCHS attendance challenge of 2nd semester, earning a class pizza party and gym time with Ms. Finn!
At OCHS, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Thomas led a "Take 2" group activity for tier II and differentiated opportunities for 9th grade reading students. Today, they focused on improving students' standards-proficiency within Romeo & Juliet. A few students served as group coaches!
Today at OCHS, Forensics students lifted fingerprints at a “crime scene” to determine who committed the crime. Also, in Mrs . Hall's Biology class, students performed a lab activity to study temperature and enzymes.
OCMHS is very proud of the many students who benchmarked or grew on the recent winter MAP assessments! We will use this data to continue to help our students grow, academically. Detailed MAP reports will be mailed, along with 3rd term progress reports in mid-February.

Owls Senior, Jacob McCoy Jr. had a very notable January with stellar play and many accolades.
Jacob received player of the game honors during the Owls All "A" Tournament victory over the Leslie County Eagles.
Also, during his great play, Jacob reached 1,500 career points!
