The Plant Science class spent time yesterday picking sweet corn so the Principles of Ag class could learn to shuck it! Before it goes on the lunch line next week, the 8th graders, who are learning about commodities, got to make butter and have a taste test!










Floral Design students thanked some of their teachers for "Bringing the Sunshine to OCHS" with a vase of fresh sunflowers cut from the school farm.




As part of the literary study of "A Quilt of a Country" in Mrs. Campbell's class, OCHS freshmen, Bethany Faulkner, brought in a handmade quilt given to her by her grandmother, Maxine Phillips.

Good luck to Cayden Hudson, OCHS junior, who began his school year at the Craft Academy at Morehead State University. The Craft Academy is a selective and prestigious residential school for KY juniors and seniors who have shown excellence in science and mathematics.

OCHS 9th grade English is studying "A Quilt of a Country" and sharing stories about family quilts. Delaney Smith, brought in a quilt handmade by her great-grandmother, Violet Combs, & great-great grandmother, Rebecca Allen. This quilt has been part of five generations!

Macie Fugate brought in her grandmother's (Priscilla Fugate) homemade quilt to share with her fellow English 9 classmates, as part of the study of "A Quilt of a Country".

Today, retiring OCHS staff members Dorthy Bowling, Dan Marshall, and Alan Taylor were recognized and gifted with rocking chairs. Thanks to our retiring teachers and staff for your years of dedication and commitment to the students of Owsley County.


The Championship of the 56th District Baseball Tournament is all set to begin tonight at OCHS. The game begins at 6:00 and will be between the Powell County Pirates and the Estill County Engineers. We hope you are able to come out this evening and see the game live. WSKV 104.9 will be streaming the games live on their Facebook, radio station, listenlikealocal.com, or their free app.

Today, 6th graders had a blast celebrating the end of a great school year with their teachers at Air Raid while the 7th grade enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities at Buckhorn Campground!
