Our Student Leadership team participated in a floral design class with Oneida Mcintosh. She discussed her journey of becoming a florist and how she turned her passion into a business. Thanks to PRI School Coordinator, Amy Dooley & Mrs. Mcintosh for planning this event.

Students in Mrs. Taylor's Principles of Agriculture class spent time dissecting flowers to reinforce what they've been learning about plant parts and their functions.




Owsley County High School Baseball will be having an open conditioning session on February 2nd at 4:00 in the OCHS weight room/gym. This will be open for grades 7-12. A current sports physical is required to participate in this open session.
Congratulations to the OCHS Academic Team for their recent runner-up finish in the District Governor’s Cup. Some individual performances included: Eli Lewis-3rd in Science and 1st in Arts & Humanities, Isac Lewis-3rd in Language Arts, Jack Darling-3rd in Arts & Humanities, Anna Bishop-5th in Language Arts and 5th in Arts & Humanities, Irish Neace-4th in Social Studies and 1st in Science. Great job, Owls!


Today, Coach Finn and the OCMS Academic Team had a great showing at the District Governor's Cup, hosted by Breathitt Co. High School. Some top individual performances were: 2nd Place Science-Jorge Perez, 2nd Place Arts & Humanities-Lyla Spence, and 1st place Arts & Humanities- Jinger Marshall. Our team also won the Sportsmanship Award. Great job, Owls!






The Owsley County Owls will play at home tonight against Red Bird. The game is set to start at 6:30.
Congratulations to our Owls and Lady Owls for advancing to the semifinals of the 2025 14th Region All "A" Classic Tournament. The semifinals and finals of the tournament will be hosted at Lee County High School. Attached is the official bracket with tournament information.

This week at OCMHS, Mrs. Lewis' students designed Ugly Christmas Sweaters for review of Egypt, Crusades, and current events. Also, Mr. Lewis' 7th grade science class extracted their own cheek cells and then looked at them under microscopes.




Congratulations to our senior volleyball team members Hailey Byrd and Hannah Sebastian for making the 56th District All-District Team. Thank you to our seniors for your many years of dedication to the volleyball program.

Today, OCMHS 8th grade students visited the Kentucky Coal Mining Museum and were able to take a guided tour of the Portal 31 coal mine--a major part of Kentucky's history.
