Spring sports physicals will be offered again tomorrow after school at the high school nurses office.
Mrs. Price's science students have been studying Gravitational Potential Energy. Students built tracks and used voyager sensor probes connected to software to gather data that is graphed and collected by the sensor along the track. Also, her Astronomy students have been using 3D doodles to create space-themed ornaments for the class' Universe Tree.
Thank you to Judge Executive Zeke Little for officially declaring it FFA Week in Owsley County! These students have a great week planned!
The first official softball practice will be tomorrow March 3rd at the High School Softball Field for grade levels 6-12. Practice will be from 3:00-5:30 and all girls participating need a physical, a glove, and cleats/old tennis shoes.
Our Owsley County FFA members had the opportunity to serve their fellow Eastern Kentuckians by volunteering their time to organize and pack supplies at the ARH Disaster Relief Center in Hazard.
The FFA emphasizes serving others and making a positive change in the world. These kids did that today! One student said, “Man, serving people really does feel good!”

Owsley County families who have damaged property due the recent flood may qualify for assistance from FEMA. Please see the flyer for information or visit the Owsley Co. Public Library through next Monday where FEMA staff will be available.
Owsley County Track & Field will begin practice next Monday. Middle and high school students are welcome to come tryout. A current KHSAA physical will be required to participate.

Our Student Leadership team participated in a floral design class with Oneida Mcintosh. She discussed her journey of becoming a florist and how she turned her passion into a business. Thanks to PRI School Coordinator, Amy Dooley & Mrs. Mcintosh for planning this event.

Students in Mrs. Taylor's Principles of Agriculture class spent time dissecting flowers to reinforce what they've been learning about plant parts and their functions.
Owsley County High School Baseball will be having an open conditioning session on February 2nd at 4:00 in the OCHS weight room/gym. This will be open for grades 7-12. A current sports physical is required to participate in this open session.
Congratulations to the OCHS Academic Team for their recent runner-up finish in the District Governor’s Cup. Some individual performances included: Eli Lewis-3rd in Science and 1st in Arts & Humanities, Isac Lewis-3rd in Language Arts, Jack Darling-3rd in Arts & Humanities, Anna Bishop-5th in Language Arts and 5th in Arts & Humanities, Irish Neace-4th in Social Studies and 1st in Science. Today, Coach Finn and the OCMS Academic Team had a great showing at the District Governor's Cup, hosted by Breathitt Co. High School. Some top individual performances were: 2nd Place Science-Jorge Perez, 2nd Place Arts & Humanities-Lyla Spence, and 1st place Arts & Humanities- Jinger Marshall. Our team also won the Sportsmanship Award. Great job, Owls!
The Owsley County Owls will play at home tonight against Red Bird. The game is set to start at 6:30.
Congratulations to our Owls and Lady Owls for advancing to the semifinals of the 2025 14th Region All "A" Classic Tournament. The semifinals and finals of the tournament will be hosted at Lee County High School. Attached is the official bracket with tournament information.
