Tonight’s monthly new/emerging teacher meeting was a success! We focused on building strong relationships and staying consistent as educators. Proud of this group and the difference they’re making every day!
Congratulations to the OCHS Academic Team for their recent runner-up finish in the District Governor’s Cup. Some individual performances included: Eli Lewis-3rd in Science and 1st in Arts & Humanities, Isac Lewis-3rd in Language Arts, Jack Darling-3rd in Arts & Humanities, Anna Bishop-5th in Language Arts and 5th in Arts & Humanities, Irish Neace-4th in Social Studies and 1st in Science. Great job, Owls!
There WILL be school in Owsley County on Monday January 27th. We look forward to seeing our students in the morning.

NTI Day Meals - 1/22/25:
Owsley County Schools have been approved to provide meals on NTI days through the National School Lunch Program. Meals will be prepared at Owsley County Elementary School. They may be picked up at the rear of the school using the kitchen door between 12:00pm - 1:00pm. We are requesting that if you would like to pick up meals for your student that you complete the order form online at the district website: https://www.owsley.kyschools.us/page/school-nutrition or call (606) 593 -6363 ext. 439. Phone orders can be placed between 8:30am – 11:00am on the day NTI meals are available. All orders should be submitted by 11:00am on the day of pick-up to allow Food Service Staff time to prepare the meals. Today, Coach Finn and the OCMS Academic Team had a great showing at the District Governor's Cup, hosted by Breathitt Co. High School. Some top individual performances were: 2nd Place Science-Jorge Perez, 2nd Place Arts & Humanities-Lyla Spence, and 1st place Arts & Humanities- Jinger Marshall. Our team also won the Sportsmanship Award. Great job, Owls!
We are so grateful for our teachers’ commitment to continuous improvement! Today, they had a productive day analyzing student data to guide next steps, refining standards and curriculum, and reflecting on pacing to enhance instruction. They also shared ideas and learned from one another during engaging EdCamp sessions. Our team is energized and ready to welcome our students back into the building!
There will be No School in Owsley County on Friday January, 17th. This will be a traditional snow day. All Certified Staff (teachers, administrators) will need to report to Owsley County High School at 8 a.m. for professional development.
