Today in Mrs. Bishop’s, students became artifact investigators!
Working in collaborative groups, they examined mystery items from the past and practiced making evidence-based claims using the CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) model. This engaging activity encouraged critical thinking, historical inquiry, and teamwork as we launched our unit.

Reminder - OCES opens at 7:30 for drop offs. Head Start opens at 7:45. For safety please do not drop off your students and leave them before these times. Thank you.

The joint leadership team, along with teacher leaders, facilitated sessions on our schoolwide goals, data analysis, and the referral process. A strong start to the year with meaningful collaboration and shared purpose.

Just a reminder to watch for children and school buses beginning on Thursday August 7th.

Our K-2 and 3-5 reading and writing teachers took part in a curriculum-based professional learning session to strengthen their classroom practices. Thank you to PRI and our school coordinator, Felecia Pittman, for making this opportunity possible.

The final touches are being completed on all our facilities as we prepare for the arrival of students next week. Thank you to our custodial and maintenance staff who have worked all summer to ensure our facilities are cleaned and prepared for our students.

For the first time in 43 years, Owsley Elementary will begin the year without Miss Peggy Gentry. To honor her memory, and her love for the children, the family has generously donated school supplies to start our year. We would like to thank them for their kindness.
