Your dedication has shaped generations of students and left a lasting impact on our schools and community. In a small community like ours, the influence of a great teacher reaches far beyond the classroom. Thank you for being part of what makes Owsley County so special!

OCMHS celebrated today with a rally, trivia, Green cupcakes and punch, karaoke, games and more. We are very proud of our OCMHS students and staff for our gains in accountability!

Students were recognized with certificates today for excellence on the spring KSAs, which helped our middle and high school achieve Green rating with KDE. Also, students who were "Distinguished" on KSAs received an extra trophy for math or science or a golden pen for excellence in Combined Writing!

Portrait of an Owsley County Learner: Effective Communicator
During 3rd-grade math, students demonstrated what it means to be Effective Communicators! Using the UPS CHECK strategy, students independently solved problems, shared and compared strategies during student-led table talks, and listened to learn from one another.
A special shoutout to Tori, who took the initiative to lead her group's discussion! She made sure everyone understood the task, encouraged classmates to explain their thinking, and helped her peers learn from one another.
Way to go, Tori and classmates, for putting our Portrait of an Owsley County Learner into action!

Portrait in Practice: Responsible Citizen
During math class, Braxtyn noticed a classmate struggling with subtraction. Instead of giving him the answer, he kindly demonstrated how to solve the problem and helped his classmate understand.
