Lady Owls traveled to WYMT studios today for Roundball Previews. After a behind the scene tour of the studio the girls took their turns in front of the camera!

Big wins tonight for our middle school boys basketball team against Lee Co. tonight. They won the 7th and 8th grade games and 6th lost on a buzzer beater. Leading scorers for 6th grade was Bryson Bowling with 14 and Eelan Bobrowski-Hall with 11 and leading rebounder was Fletcher Hatton with 8. For 7th grade leading scorers were Elijah Hatton with 20 and Bryson Bowling with 9 and leading rebounder was Elijah Hatton with 10. The 8th grade leading scorers were Andrew Terry with 31 and Dalton Sebastian with 10 and leading rebounder was Andrew Terry with 14.
The middle school boys will be back in action on Thursday night against East Bernstadt starting at 6pm here at home!

The Food Bank Classic is a “community works project” that the boys varsity basketball team will compete in Saturday. All canned items can be donated at OCHS, OC Public Library or given to a player or coach. Owsley County’s food donation will be recognized at their game Saturday.

Great job by our 8th grade middle school boys basketball team with a win tonight against Ferristown Middle School. Andrew Terry lead all scorers with 18 points followed up by Daniel Caudill with 8 points and with rebounding Andrew had 13 rebounds and Matt Wright had 9 to go with it in a 39-30 win. The 6th and 7th grade had tough games tonight too. 6th grade was lead by scoring with Bryson Bowling and Eelan Bobrowski-Hall with 6 a piece and Fletcher Hatton pulled down 9 big rebounds. 7th grade had Elijah Hatton with 10 points and 10 rebounds leading the way.

Owsley County School District honored 2 Owsley County Coaching legends at Maroon and White Night 2022. Lady Owls All Time Wins leader Randall Spencer and Owls All Time Wins leader Charlie Turner! Both Coaches will forever have a banner hanging in Owsley County High School Gym.

Veterans please feel free to park by the OCHS cafeteria today and enter in those doors beginning at 12:30 pm. We will have a table set up for sign in and will get you right to a table for the Veterans Day lunch. Lunch planned to start by 12:45 pm. Assembly in the gym to follow

Wonderful “Distinguished Dinner” with several of our OCMS/HS students and parents/caregivers. These students scored distinguished on one or more KSA state tests back in May and give their best every day. Congrats and thank you to all of our distinguished students and families!

Enjoyed Green Day at OCHS as we celebrated our students and green school rating. We recognized over 175 OCMS/HS students who scored a proficient or distinguished or no novices on KY Summative Assessments back in May. We gave away over 20 prizes and had a great time listening to the Rookies perform. Back to maroon tomorrow!

GAME-DAY!

A reminder for our OCHS staff and students to wear Green tomorrow to celebrate OCHS’s rating with the Kentucky Dept. of Ed. Also, we will be having an Academic Pep Rally for all students tomorrow afternoon to celebrate 6th-12th students who earned proficient or distinguished scores on May 2022 KSA testing. OCHS student band, the The Rookies, will be performing some songs for our students as well!

The Owsley County boys varsity basketball team is collecting canned food items as part of a community service project. All items can be dropped off at the Owsley County Public Library. The boys will drop off all donations to Food Bank Classic November 19.

“It’s time for Basketball in Booneville!” Gates will open at 5:15 on Friday evening for Maroon and White Night. There will be special coaching tributes for Randall Spencer and Charlie Turner. If you were a former player of either, we hope you are able to be in attendance.
