It's been a busy week here at OCHS! Monday, students dressed in construction gear and seniors signed their Senior Sign-Off banner. Yesterday, teachers had fun with Little Kid Day and came dressed through the decades. Congrats to Tuesday and Wednesdays Riddle winner: Connor Smith!
Happy GEAR UP Week! Today, OCHS students experienced "dinner and a show" with the addition of Family Feud: College Edition during their lunch periods. Steve Harvey (Miss Chelsea) surveyed students last week and used their responses to create the ultimate OCHS-inspired game.

The Lady Owls Middle School Girls Basketball Team picked up two wins against 55th District opponents Breathitt Co. and Wolfe Co. this week. The Lady Owls move to 9-2 on the season. Next week they will play at Berea (9/27), at Lee Co. (9/28), and home against Hindman (9/30).
Bring your hard hats and neon vests! OCMHS students will begin celebrating National GEAR UP Week with the theme of Construction Zone: Building Futures on Monday, September 25th. Check out the attached flyer for each day's theme!
OCHS juniors and seniors were visited today by Tami Herrell, STEM coordinator for GEAR UP Opportunity. Students studied chemical reactions by producing silver and copper through single replacement, studied antacid reactions, and burning steel wool and an organic compound.
The Owsley County Golf Team will be having their annual scramble fundraiser tomorrow at Sag Hollow Golf Course. Info for the tournament is attached. The weather looks to be perfect for tomorrow. Come out and support our Owls and Lady Owls. Call 593-GOLF to register your team.
Our Owls Golf Team competed in the 11th Region Tournament today at Paintsville. They finished 7th overall as a team. Owls senior, Jacob McCoy Jr., finished 9th overall. Owls 7th grader, Eelan Bobrowski-Hall, finished 16th overall. Both Jacob and Eelan will be advancing to the first round of state competition at Winchester CC next Tuesday. Congratulations to our golfers on your outstanding play!
Congratulations to our Lady Owls Volleyball Team for their district win against Lee County last night! They are now 2-1 in district play. They play again tonight against Breathitt County at home.

Our Lady Owls Golf Team competed in the 11th Region Golf Tournament at Paintsville Golf Course today. They were successful in defending their title today as this makes back-to-back Region 11 Championships for them. Lady Owls Sophmore, Addison Terry, finished 6th overall in the tournament. Also, Kenzie Grubb was named the Kentucky River Golf Conference “Most Improved Player” for this season. Congratulations to our Lady Owls on their accomplishments! They will advance to the First Round of State next Monday at Winchester Country Club.
National GEAR UP Week is approaching! NEXT WEEK, OCMHS students will celebrate with themed days, a scavenger hunt, college Family Feud in the cafeteria, STEM activities throughout the week, and much more! Parents can be on the lookout for announcements and videos to come.

The 8th grade middle school boys basketball team traveled over to Jackson County High School to play in a tournament and finished 3-1. This special group of boys turned it around after losing the first game this morning to finish strong with three straight wins. They played against OBI, Barbourville, and Jackson Co. En route to winning, the Owls had spectacular moments throughout the tournament. The season looks bright for this group of middle schoolers.
