A Title IX review will be taking place tomorrow. There will be a public comment session from 3:00-3:30 if anyone would like to attend. This session will be held in the OCHS Library.
The 2024-2025 FAFSA is now open! Seniors and their families are encouraged to join us on January 9th from 4-6 PM for FAFSA Night. KHEAA representative Joplin Rice and others will be available to help seniors complete the application. Dinner will be provided!
Today, OCHS class of 2023 graduates, Dave and Daniel Mayes, were presented with their own U.S. flags, which were flown above the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C. on December 1st, honoring their recent graduation from army basic training. We are very proud of them!

Owls guard, Jacob McCoy Jr., was named to the Redmond Auto Group Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team which was hosted at Bell County. McCoy finished the tournament tonight with 28 points against Jackson County. The Owls will be back in action next week at the Borderline Classic.
Owls senior guard, Jacob McCoy, Jr., earned player of the game honors today in the Redmond Auto Group Holiday Classic at Bell County. McCoy had 19 points, 5 steals, and 3 assists in the Owls 52-49 victory over Lynn Camp.
Last night, OCMS won all three games against Estill County, and was a very successful 8th-grade night as well. Two of our 8th graders were unable to play, but the boys still came through with the win.
The 8th grade stats were Jordan McCoy with 31 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Daniel Caudell had 13 points along with 14 rebounds and 2 blocks. Matt Wright came away with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
For the 7th grade game, Bryson Bowling had 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals. Eelan Bobrowski-Hall had 15 points and 4 rebounds. Kelten Smith collected 9 rebounds.
Then for the 6th-grade game, Bryson Bowling had 25 points, 10 steals, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 assists. Preston Sebastian added 12 points with 5 steals. Bryston Bowling added 6 points with 8 rebounds too.
It was an excellent night to end the season for the middle school boys and capped off an excellent season for these young men.
Tomorrow, December 19th, will be the OCMS boys basketball team's last game of the season. We will be honoring our 8th-grade athletes starting at 6 pm. The ceremony will be followed by the 8th-grade game with the 6th-grade and 7th-grade teams to follow against the Estill County Engineers. Come out and support all these boys on a special night.
Today the boy's basketball team competed in the Middle School 56th district tournament. The 8th-grade team received runner-up and was led by Andrew Terry with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan McCoy had 11 points and 6 rebounds. The 7th-grade team came up short and lost by 2 points in the first round and was led in scoring by Bryson Bowling with 28 points and 5 rebounds. Eelan Bobrowski-Hall had 7 points, Christian Hahaj had 6 points, and Kelten Smith contributed 2 points and 7 rebounds. For the 6th-grade game, they were led by Bryson Bowling with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Bryston Bowling added 8 rebounds for the Owls. All-Tournament Team Selections from Owsley today were: Andrew Terry, Jordan McCoy, Eelan Bobrowski-Hall, Kelten Smith, and Bryson Bowling. The boys played really hard today and we are very proud of them this season and look forward to watching them grow into great student-athletes and young men.
Good luck to the OCMS Boys Basketball Team tomorrow as they compete in their district tournament. If you find time and want to come to support them, their first game is at 9 am at Lee County High School for the 8th grade, the 7th grade at 2 pm, and the 6th grade at 3:15 pm.

Today, 6th-12th students viewed a performance of Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol, by OCHS Theater. We are very proud of these students and appreciate all of their hard work and preparation. Another public performance of the play is scheduled for tonight @ 6 pm.

Students in Mrs. Chelsea's ACT prep/GEAR UP class had fun practicing budgeting, engineering, problem-solving, and teamwork skills as they competed to build the tallest spaghetti structure in the class.
Tonight OCMS Boys Basketball played Morgan County in The Palace and won all 3 games.

The boys are back in action on Saturday to begin the middle school district tournament over at Lee County High School. Come out and support and cheer the boys on as we cap off our season.
