Our Girls Leadership group theme this week was Dealing with Stress- We practiced Whale Breathing and stretching. Then we made stress balls to take home.






Owsley County Special Education teachers participated in a professional learning community to review and analyze progress data for our students.


Congrats to the OCES Lady Owls on their win over SES. This was their last home game of the season. Way to go Lady Owls!!!

The WYMT Food City Mountain Classic brackets were released last night. The Lady Owls will be making their first ever appearance in the prestigious tournament this season. They will open tournament on December 7th taking on one of the top teams in 13th region in Knox Central.

OCMHS Kindness Club (Friends of Rachel) met for their first club meeting today and elected officers: President Maikota Little, Vice President Jackson Renfro, Webmaster Mackenzie Sandlin, Secretary Presley Mason, and Photographers Shade McIntosh & Tim Smallwood. This club of over 70 students will empower students and staff members to create a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.

Third Grade students in Ms. McIntosh's Library & Media classes have been learning about the history of Owsley County. Today they toured Mayor Long's home. It was built in the 1800s by Colonel Andrew Clark. It was purchased by Mayor Long in the late 1940s and housed his wife Ruth's beauty parlor, the first in Owsley County.

Congratulations to the Lady Owls Volleyball team for a great win tonight over Jackson City! Seniors Kylee Abner, Katie Beth Lucas, and Lily Patrick were recognized. Thank you to our senior student-athletes for your years of hard work and dedication to the volleyball program!


OCMHS Students--Mark your calendars!

OCHS FFA students and OCHS staff, in collaboration with our local first responders, conducted a skit for all 6th-12th students on the importance of ATV safety and the consequences of drunk driving. Thank you to our Owsley County first responders for your daily service!

Early Headstart & Headstart students visited the OCHS Farm today for a hayride, a pumpkin, and a visit to the petting zoo. Also, thank you to the Headstart staff. K-12 students will visit the OCHS Farm tomorrow for Heritage Day!




OCHS students recently competed in regional forestry and natural resource competitions: Michael Mason & Corey Taylor placed 1st in Chainsaw ID and Troubleshooting, Dylan Mayes was 3rd in Wildlife ID, Lilly Thomas was 3rd in Tree Measurement, and Eli Lewis was 3rd in Compass and Pacing and 2nd in both Woodworking and Tree Measurement. Great job students!
