Today, OCHS freshmen and sophomores celebrated a great school year at Main Event in Lexington, Ky.

Although we will not have traditional summer school this year due to low enrollment, Owsley County Schools is excited to offer a Summer Learning Adventure for our K-5 students from May 27 through July 31, 2026.

Keep learning going all summer long! Owsley County Schools has shared Summer Reading and Math Resources for Grades K-5 to help students continue building skills while having fun. We encourage students to practice reading and math for at least 30 minutes each day!
Today at OCHS, Mr. Parker's 6th grade VP Arts students performed the play "The Emperor's New Clothes" in the Kids on Stage Room. Great job, students and thank you to the parents and family members who were able to come out today to support.
Today, our 6th and 7th grade students, teachers, and student peer mentors enjoyed a field trip to Air Raid in London, KY. They had a great time celebrating another great school year at OCHS!
The OCES staff who participated in Secret Pal gathered tonight for their reveal celebration. Building a positive staff culture and supportive environment is so important to creating a strong school community for both staff and students.
OCHS would like to recognize two additional students who have perfect attendance for the entire 2025-26 school year: Traven White and Charlie Roberts. Great job!
OCES 4th Grade visited the Kentucky Reptile Zoo today as part of their science unit. Students saw various reptiles, including alligators and turtles, and watched a live venom extraction.
2nd grade students celebrated their hard work this year with pizza and ice cream from Mr. Cale Turner. They were also presented any earned academic achievement awards for having all Gs, completing math Dreambox topics, attendance, and scoring Proficient/Distinguished in math or reading on NWEA MAP testing. We are so proud of all of them!

The OCMHS Staff Culture Committee organized a Secret Pal for staff this year, and this afternoon they gathered for their reveal. Having great coworkers and a great place to work is truly priceless.
