For the first time in program history, the Owsley County Lady Owls will be part of the 37th annual WYMT Mountain Basketball Classic field. The WYMT Food City Mountain Basketball Classic will be played from Dec. 4-9 at Knott County Central High School.

On Wednesday, April 26th, the OCHS Track & Field Team competed at Leslie County in their third track meet of the season.

The Owls Baseball Team is currently leading the 14th Region in runs per game at 9.8/game. The Lady Owls Softball Team is currently ranked 5th in this category with 7.6/game. The hard work of our student athletes and coaches is showing!

Owls junior, Jacob McCoy Jr, helped lead the charge tonight in their victory over Menifee County. Jacob hit a two-run home run and also pitched a no-hitter!

A small group of OCHS GEAR UP students traveled to Tennessee this weekend for a 3-stop college tour and overnight stay in Knoxville. Students toured the University of Tennessee, Lincoln Memorial University, and Union College. The students (and their chaperones) had a great time!



Congratulations to Owls senior, Ethan Sebastian, who won the David Melton Memorial Classic Scholarship at Cordia this past Saturday.

We hosted a Reverse Job Fair earlier today at OCHS. Our seniors did a great job of explaining personal skills, education and career plans for several of our local employers. Thanks to those local employers for meeting with our very talented students!

Owls freshman, Dylan Gay, earned player of the game honors at their game in the "Dave Melton Memorial Classic" at Cordia. Dylan scored 3 runs and had 3 stolen bases tonight.

Today, we were visited by former OCHS Cross Country standout student-athlete, Megan Hoffman Boone. She and her family toured the gym and posed with the 1996 and 1997 XC Regional Championship trophies. Megan was an integral part of those championship teams.

We are very proud of our student blood donors and our OCHS Beta Club! Today, several students and staff (29 total) donated blood at the mobile Kentucky Blood Center at OCHS--a blood drive organized by our OCHS Beta Club. These donations will help save lives!

Owls sophomore, Josh Ellis, launched his first home run of the season tonight against the Berea Pirates! The Owls will face off tomorrow evening in a district game with the Powell County Pirates at 6:00.

Today, we wrapped up our 8th Grade Tour of Kentucky. Students toured the Louisville Slugger Factory & Museum and passed by Churchill Downs ahead of the May 6th Kentucky Derby! Lastly, we toured "Ashland", the home of legendary KY politician, the "Great Compromiser", Henry Clay.
