Kentucky River Region FFA Paperwork Day is in the books! Eli Lewis, Katie Beth Lucas, Dalton Gibson, and Hailey McIntosh competed in Quiz Bowl. Hannah Sebastian competed in Employability Skills. Katie Beth Lucas also retired from the position of Regional Treasurer.

Congratulations to OCHS sophomores Cayden Hudson and Dalton Gibson, who were recently selected as 2024 Rogers Scholars!

At OCHS, Mrs. McCoy's math classes have been working on Distance Time Graph/Stories, Ms. Finn's reading class has been analyzing and citing sources for argumentative writing, and Mrs. Brewer's geometry students have been studying properties of circles.

Several OCHS students took time to read to OCES primary students today as part of Read Across America Week!


Track and Field practice will begin Thursday after school. The team will meet in the lobby of the OCHS gym. Students will need a current physical before participating.

Congratulations to OCHS sophomore, Jose Vazquez, who placed 2nd in the SkillsUSA regional carpentry competition with our vocational partner school, Lee Co. ATC. Jose will compete at the state SkillsUSA competition in April!

Today, many OCHS students enjoyed the sunshine after eating lunch alfresco. Special thanks to Owsley Co. Schools Food Service for an excellent meal today!

Mrs. Lewis's 6th grade social studies students were studying the Ancient Greek City-States of Athens and Sparta today, with students leading class discussion and questioning.

Today finished the last home game for the Owls and Lady Owls. Owsley County Athletics would like to give a special thanks to our concession staff, custodians, clock keepers, PA announcers, and gate staff. Our home games would not be possible without our great support staff!
OCHS GEAR UP students had a great trip to EKU, yesterday, where they toured campus and learned about the different programs and scholarships available to them. We even met up with some familiar faces!

Today at OCMHS, 7th grade students in Mr. Lewis's science class got to dissect cow eyeballs with help from Extension Agent Carissa Miske and the 4-H Extension Office.
