The Owsley County FFA Greenhouse is OPEN! Students have been working hard this semester to bring you some beautiful flowers. We also have tomato and pepper plants. Stop by the AG Room anytime Monday-Friday, 8-3 to shop!






Our 8th Grade students wrapped up a great trip this weekend. While gone, were able to tour Mammoth Cave, the U.S. Civil War Perryville Battlefield, My Old Kentucky Home, and more. They were also able to squeeze in some swimming and recreation, creating great class memories.

The Class of 2026 finished up a great senior trip to D.C & Outer Banks. Yesterday, students enjoyed some fellowship beach and pool time before making the long trek back to Booneville today. Everyone is home safe and sound!









The Class of 2026 visited Ford's Theater today, coincidentally on the 161st Anniversary of the day President Lincoln was shot. They also took in exhibits at the Smithsonian and have now arrived in Outer Banks, NC for some beach time!










Today, the Class of 2026 toured the U.S. Capitol Building, viewed original Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution at the National Archives and toured Arlington National Ceremony, along with some sightseeing of major government buildings and landmarks. At the cemetery, in addition to watching the Changing of the Guard, we also got to watch a very special wreath ceremony from an Honor Flight Veterans group from Kansas. The seniors finished a great day with some shopping at the Pentagon Mall!



The Class of 2026 began their tour of D.C. visiting several memorials and monuments at the National Mall including the Washington Monument and the Lincoln, Jefferson, MLK, Korean War, Vietnam War, WWI and WWII Memorials.










Today at OCHS, students were able to participate in the "On the Move" program, which informs students about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. Special thanks to the OCHs FRYSC, PRI and OperationUNITE for bringing this opportunity to our students.







It was a great afternoon at OCHS as middle and high school students enjoyed snow cones and recess at PBIS behavior Celebrations and MAP growth rewards including grade level outdoor egg hunts. Teachers and staff sponsored candy for the eggs, included some bonus points and "drop an assignment" coupons and more. Also, a special thanks to the Owsley Co. Public Library and the Lesa Marcum family.for sponsoring several of the special egg prizes. We are proud of all of our Owls and Happy Easter!








OCHS students: We have moved up our Spring OCHS Egg Hunt/Celebrations for middle and high school students to tomorrow (Thursday). Students, feel free to bring a basket/bag for collecting eggs!
Today at OCHS, Seniors completed training to become CPR/AED/First Aid Certified!



Congratulations to our OCHS middle and high Math Pi Day Contest winners. Students received prizes for reciting the most digits of Pi., beyond 3.14. Middle School 3rd place-Issac McKelvey, 2nd Place-Bradey Byrd, and 1st place- Jinger Marshall with 118 digits! High School 3rd place-Noah Shouse, 2nd place-Katie Shipman, and 1st place-Irish Neace with 122 digits! Great job, Owls!


Mrs. Hall's Biology students are working on projects to demonstrate their understanding of Cellular Respiration. "Student choice" was included for the project, giving students options such as writing/recording a rap song, a skit, or a story book using the lesson's vocabulary and key concepts.





Today at OCHS, Mrs. Campbell's freshmen English students completed an Adolescent Literacy Model literacy strategy, working with each other to organize the plot sequence from Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.





Today at OCHS, several reading and math students completed MAP station activities, specifically designed to improve students' focus instructional areas such as literature, vocabulary, algebraic thinking and statistics. The goal is to use student MAP data to better drive personalized instruction, and lead students to higher confidence and higher performance.

The Lady Owls are set to play Tuesday evening at 7:45 against the Knott County Central Lady Patriots.

The Lady Owls Middle School Volleyball Team pulled off a win against Jones Fork and then went on to win three different sets throughout the day in the Queens of the Court Tournament.
The team showed great teamwork, growth, and dedication throughout the tournament.
