Owsley Early Childhood would like to thank all the businesses and community friends who came to our center to pass out candy and treats to our babies.
Owsley County Head Start and Preschool would like to thank the Farmers State Bank and Booneville Shopwise staff for making their study about our community an inactive learning experience. Each student had a job on Monday and each earned a paycheck. All the children then visited the Farmers State Bank to cash their paycheck and stopped by Booneville Shopwise to purchase some goodie’s. Thank you.

Owsley Early Childhood children and staff would like to thank Mr Alan Taylor and his FFA students for inviting us to the pumpkin patch. The children enjoyed a hayride and everyone got to select their own special pumpkin to take home.

Walk for a Cure in honor of Easton Smith.
September Childhood Cancer Awareness
The Owsley Early Childhood Programs participated in a walk a thon for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital for cancer research. Our “Walk For a Cure” was in honor of Easton Smith, a 2014 Early Head Start student. Gold balloons were released in honor of Easton. The children collected $1253.00 for St Jude’s Children Hospital for cancer research. Thanks to all who sponsored a child.
Police Safety Class
The Owsley Early Childhood Programs would like to thank Sheriff Brent Lynch, City Police/ School Safety Officer Tara Roberts and Trooper David Hobbs, KY State Police for visiting and hosting a child safety class on stranger danger and the importance of taking proper safety tips and precautions
October Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Owsley Early Head Start and Head Start is sharing breast cancer awareness and prevention strategies for early detection. Early detection includes monthly breast self exams and regular schedule mammograms. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That’s one person every two minutes in the US.
Fall Carnival Friday October 21
The Owsley Early Childhood had a great time on Friday during our Fall Carnival. The children enjoyed playing games, face painting, etc.
