Five students from Owsley County participated in the EKU Honor Band Clinic this past weekend. Musicians auditioned for placements, rehearsed over two days, and put on a distinguished performance Saturday evening at the Center for the Arts in Richmond. Even with intense rehearsals, led by retired distinguished high school director, Brent Barton, and Dr. Andrew Putnam, Director of Bands at EKU, students enjoyed meeting new friends and collaborating to create collegiate-level band experiences. Brannon and Justice Nolan performed in the percussion section of Putnam’s band. Trey Turner placed first chair tuba in Barton’s band. Bayden Baker placed first chair tenor saxophone in Barton’s band. Allyson Montgomery placed second chair in the trumpet section on Barton’s band. Both directors praised these students for their abilities and dedication to music.
